Really? Ohio is one Market? Cincinnati to Cleveland is about 250 miiles, and New York to DC is 225 miles. using your logic, Philly, NYC, Baltimore, and DC are one market. Claiming Cincinnati is in the same market as Columbus or Cleveland is crazy. I can tell you, the league could add, Cincinnati, Xavier, Dayton and Miami (OH) and would have about the same following in Clevland as it would if it never added a team in Ohio. Now you can argue the merits of adding Dayton, but even Dayton is a seperate market from Cincinnati.

In basketball most people who claim to be lifelong OSU Basketball fans can't name five players that played before Greg Oden. When it comes to basketball in the Nati area, the Bearcats are the dominate team. Xavier has a very strong following and is the second most followed team. Coming in third is probably Kentucky. Ohio State is so far behind any one of those three teams its not even funny.

Above I mentioned Dayton abandoning Xavier and Butler to join the Great Midwest, becuase it illustrates the number one rule in conference expansion. EVERY SCHOOL WILL DO WHAT IS BEST FOR THEM. My guess is if Xavier had a choice between UD and another program they would support Dayton. But I seriously doubt that Xavier and/or Butler would say invite UD or we are not joining.

Sorry, I hit post right before I thought about Kentucky in the Cincinnati market, but didn't edit, because my point is that Xavier will not matter in the Dayton market if not in conference with Dayton.

As far as the Great Midwest debacle, that was one president and two ADs ago at UD. At the time they had been playing DePaul, Marquette, and Notre Dame twice each year and thought a link to at least one of those three was the way to go, rather than the more recent conference link to Xavier. Yes, I know they played once every year since forever. Dayton learned, I think, that you don't turn your back on the little guy, because they might grow up and kick your butt. And Xavier deserves Dayton's thanks for getting them into the A-10.

As a side note, I was speaking with a UC grad about impending BE breakup and he said the NCAA should step in, you can't just leave some schools without a conference, and I said, "you mean like what UC did to UD when the Great Midwest became Coference USA?" and he just walked away.

Also, reviewed info from back in May when Butler joined the A-10, and at the time it seemed Butler was hesitant to join the A-10 because it was thought Dayton and Xavier would leave, so I think, and its only my personal feeling, that these three schools will work together for the best interest of the group. You may call me an idiot for thinking that, but I believe their history and their mistakes will keep them together.

So. . . probably a 12 team conference?

Dude you are out of your mind if you think Dayton got Xavier in to
The a10. It was the complete opposite. Xavier got Dayton's piss ant program in to the a10. Wow, talk about drinking the UD cool aid, revisionist history. Dayton is a pathetic loser program and always will be.

What in the H E double hockey sticks did you just smoke? I said Xavier deserves Dayton's thanks for getting them into the league!! That means Dayton should thank Xavier. I hope the C7 schools don't look at you as an example of what they get if they invite Xavier.

Hey, the UDPride admin has disabled registration to that site. Is that the main Dayton fan site? It might be good to let other fans in to discuss things with Flyers fans.

I misread it then, sorry. It was still a stupid Dayton way of wording the sentence.
