The Pac-12 in years FOX Sports has had the rights, the game is always on FS1. Local FOX stations don't want a late college hoops game on. They want their local news. The times I listed for the Pac-12 are Pacific times.

Obviously, but this is just a hypothetical and I specifically mentioned basketball. Pac 12 football is farrrr ahead of AAC football in both product and popularity, and that's why the contracts are so different.

As for basketball, I agree Pac 12 is ahead of the AAC, but only slightly. I put them in the same tier because of the Pac's location. For Saturday afternoon football games their location doesn't matter, but for late night weekday basketball it does. Add in their recent performance and a general disinterest for west coast basketball, and I don't think their basketball value would be that different.

Just look at the Pac's attendance, tournament attendance, TV ratings, etc. It's dismal. It honestly wouldn't shock me if AAC TV ratings were on par (or better) given their favorable Eastern time slots. Nobody wants to watch two mediocre Pac teams play at 10PM on a Tuesday night.
