Good luck with that. A 5 year old burns his hand on a hot stove once. UConn apparently didn't learn their lesson the first time. College hoops is a meritocracy; college football is a monopoly. The SEC and the Big 10 will own college FB. All others will bleed money and will not get enough eyeballs to warrant a lucrative TV deal. Can't wait until the CT taxpayers start asking why they are funding all sports to travel to Lubbock TX to the tune of millions in losses every year.
I played college soccer at Nova. Never jumped on a plane once in my playing career. Can you imagine the costs involved with not only the FB team (which will absolutely bleed money) but every sport on campus having to jump on a plane for EVERY away game. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Here's what you guys are heading for... 1. You're not a FB school. Temple thought it was a FB school. Syracuse thought it was a FB school. They sunk millions into chasing the brass ring and their demise is imminent. The best ACC FB schools will get gobbled up. Heck, why stop at 16. Those 2 conference might become (2) 20+ team conferences. UT and OU are just the start. Everyone else is a FB mid major at that point. UConn is not a FB school; they will not survive additional realignment (a year, 2 years, 5 years from now). Just a matter of when...
And the hoops program...stop me when you've heard this story before. No MSG, no regional rivalries, recruiting patch goes from DC to Boston to (trying) to be National. You'll be 2nd fiddle to KU and you'll lose all rivalries. NIL will be stretched to support FB, Women's BB and MEn's BB. Not enough wealthy UConn alums to support all those athletes. In 5 years UConn will be a shell of itself, groping for a lifeline. But here's the thing...the BE, like that 5 year old touching the hot stove, learned it's lesson and we won't be around to save you.
If you're a UConn Men's BB fan, this is NOT good news.
Have fun!
