So an interesting what if right now.

What if Boise and San Diego St had never gone back to the MWC when they were going to join the Big East(eventually AAC)?

Is that decision if the Pac 12 just goes away which looks possible maybe going to doom both schools. Both would probably right now be Big 12 candidates if not already in the Big 12.

Well, the reason they left in the first place was 1) the money wasn't going to be there (and if the money wasn't there, the national travel wouldn't have made sense either) and 2) the BE/AAC was in the process of losing its BCS AQ status. As the CFP evolved, the highest ranked G5 school would get a NY6 slot.

No doubt. Just seems that they would have been in better position had they stayed anyways right now. I know, hindsight is always 20/20.

Well the PAC can load up on those and other MWC teams and even if it’s only Oregon State and Washington State they can keep the PAC name and the Apple deal and would be getting at least one and maybe two teams into the playoff so that’s not all that bad. The expanded playoff will be way better off for the so-called G5 (6) (7?) and with NIL deals and such it won’t be doom and gloom for a lot of these schools. Without the Ducks in the same conference the Beavers might actually get decent… Phil might be more prone to help them if the Ducks get awash in B1G money.., just look at what happened with Texas A&M, they LEFT the B12 to get away from big brother… same goes for Wazu…

I feel the Big Ten is in much stronger position financially than the SEC long-term. They will get Miami and will try to get Florida State too. Rumors are Clemson is even attempting to go as well. Look, it cannot be overstated enough how much trouble ESPN (and Disney) is in long-term. Fox has just overtaken them and has more capital to spend. It’s why ESPN is looking at financial partners. As MLB Network, NBA TV and NFL Network grow, and major sports properties expand content offerings, ESPN is losing its diverse live sports offerings. The Big Ten, by going through Fox, NBC, CBS, FS1 and B1GN, they have numerous windows and desired national content to provide, using the NFL model. By locking down the West Coast, and inevitably getting additional ACC schools, payouts can still go up. An NFL franchise will make over $300 million annually just from TV rights; college football hasn’t (yet) approached a third of that. By expanding nationally with the top academic/athletic brands, across several top networks, they’ll be able to take who they want. Don’t think for one second in 10 years that the B1G won’t be able to get Texas or Texas A&M either. After they get into Florida, Texas will be the last big state/region to get. With the SEC locked into ESPN, who have already declared they won’t pay for a 9th conference game, let alone expand, they lack further growth into new markets and audiences.

ESPN all declared its intention to go full streaming sooner than later. With no CBS deal, the Georgia/Alabama game of the week could very well end up on ESPN+ in a few years.

The Big 12 has officially approved Arizona’s application to join the conference, per @RossDellenger.

The final step is Arizona’s board of regents approving the move. They are currently in session.

I had a feeling PAC was doomed when they were negotiating with Apple, the ultimate example of nickel and dimer. The big mistake was letting B12 get their media deal done first, because there's only so much money to go around. As B12 gets bigger assuming new members are getting full shares, BE's share of the pie will shrink.

After every round of realignment the biggest positive is the reaffirmation that UConn football is as irrelevant as it gets for the P5.

I'm glad. UCONN returned to its home in the Big East and I hope we stay here for the long haul.
