Seems about right, ratings are worse than ESPN and ESPN2 but better than ESPNU. Hopefully in time, we are on par with ESPN2.

The ratings keep improving.

Again, until fs1 is available as part of the basic cable subscription we are not going to catch even espn2.

A friend of mine (no affiliation to any Big East team) texted me on Sunday during the PC-Nova game on Fox, "finally a PC game on TV!" That pissed me off so much. Literally every one of our games, including against teams like Rider, were on national TV. The general public just doesn't search much farther than ESPN/2 for sports. The biggest flaw for FS1 could be that they weren't able to get a channel near ESPN. In Boston (Comcast) the major sports channels are: 848- Golf Channel, 849- ESPN, 850- ESPN2, 851- NESN, 852- Comcast SportsNet New England, 853- NFL Network, 856- CBS SportsNet, 865- NBC SportsNet, 900- ESPNU, 925- FS1. Looking at my TV guide, there isn't even any channel 857. It straight up doesn't exist. Why couldn't FS1 have done EVERYTHING they could have to be positioned right next to CBSSN and only a few channels away from ESPN. No one even thinks to look for channel 925 because there aren't really any channels near it; it's off on its on. CBSSN and NBCSN seemed to have gotten it right with channel placement which is why they seem to be more relevant, even though they shouldn't be. I'm not sure how it is in different regions/providers but this seems like a major flaw.

On my digital cable FS1 is in the same area as ESPN. (1214, and ESPN is in the 1220 range).

It also seems that the bars are picking up more and more FS1 coverage.

But it needs to be available on the basic package. We get Fox Sports regional. so we can get the lower level games, but the good stuff needs a digital package.

AT&T Uverse:
1602: ESPN
1604: ESPNNews
1605: ESPNU
1606: ESPN2
1607: ESPN/SEC
1608: ESPN/SEC
1640: NBCSN
1643: CBSSN
1650: B1G
1651: FS2
1652: FS1

There is some other stuff in there but for the most part, it is all in the first half of the 1600s. When I turn the TV on without even thinking about it I select 1602 - it is muscle memory. I am getting better about starting with 1652 but it is amazing how embedded the ESPN default is in my head.

I agree that channel placement can be a big deal. People will casually channel up or down a few channels from the channels they know well but they won't go 50 up or down. I was at my dad's a few weeks ago and he has Verizon FIOS. My recollection is that FS1 was a fair distance from ESPN. Is FIOS consistent across all geographies? The channel guide is awful and changing from one channel to the next is slow. My old Time-Warner CATV was really slow going from channel to channel too, it was one of the reasons I moved to Uverse.

Here in DC fios-
ESPN 570
ESPNews 572
ESPNU 573
ESPN2 574
MASN 576
CSN Washington 577
FS1 is 583
FS2 584

a bit of a distance but not too bad. Closer than NBCSN 590 or CBSSN 594.

Nevermind the numbers, just find where your sports channel are. For that guy not finding PC playing the last three years as the NFL on FOX does promos and I don't even watch the NFL is mindboggling.

Cincinnati Bell Fioptics basic HD sports channels:
525 = FS1
526 = Golf
527 = Fox Sports Ohio
528 = ESPN
529 = ESPN 2
530 = ESPN News

Other sports channels are extra pay.

Fioptics doesn't even know FS2 exists (or at least act as if they don't)!

I have U-Verse in Milwaukee. Off the top of my head, since I'm not sitting in front of my tv, I believe the lineup is:

ESPN 601
CBSSN 647
NBCSN 648
BTN 650
FS2 651
FS1 652

There are a bunch of random sports channels in between that you have to pay extra for. Most of the other ESPN stuff is within 10 of the flagship.
This is my opinion. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
