Game 6 on FS1. 6.1 Rating
- best overnight rating for an ALCS since 2013
-projects to be FS1's 2nd most-watched telecast ever

so looking at the ratings thru game 6-

games 1-6 of LA/Cubs- total of 42.4 million viewers on FS1
game 1, 3-6 of NYY/Hou- total of 29.5 million viewers on FS1(remember game 2 was on Big Fox).

so if tonight's game with NYY/Hou can get 13 million, it'd make this year's LCS better than the 2016 LCS for FS1.

going into tonight total postseason-
2016- 42.4+25.9(LDS)=68.3 million for 13 games
2017- 29.5+26.6(LDS)=56.1 million for 12 games
so if tonight got 12.3 million it'd make this postseason better than 2016 for FS1.

Just looking- the last time there was an ALCS go 7 games- Big Fox got 13.4 million viewers. That was 2008- TB/Bos. So it will be close. Definitely won't touch the last Yankees ALCS game 7- that was the Red Sox completing the 3-0 comeback- that got 31.5 million viewers.

Worst case the Yankees being in the LCS made it where this year the roof didn't cave in on the ratings like it could easily have done. Great for the FS1 narrative.

Game 7 on FS1 of Yankees/ Astros did a 7.1 overnight. Will be the most viewed program in FS1 history. Impressive with NBC having USC/ND and Michigan/Penn State on ABC for starters among other events as well.

would put it at around 11.5 million viewers I believe. So for entire series not quite as good as last year- but IMO the only difference was last year had all prime time games, and this year had those 2 5pm starts, which limited the ratings slightly in games 4 and 5(which got "only" 4.7 and 5.3 million viewers)- by comparison games 4 and 5 last year got 5.8 and 7.2 million viewers.

Saw the final number was 9.9 million(guessing the overnight number didn't match which makes sense given NYC and Houston would be in the overnight markets).

so final for FS1-
2016- NLCS 42.4 million
2017- ALCS 39.4 million

2016- total postseason 68.3 million for 13 games
2017- total postseason 66.0 million for 13 games

I do wonder if Fox execs are unhappy with the LCS schedule both last 2 years. While they have had 6 afternoon starts in the last 2 years combined, Turner has had none. Had all but 2 starts at 8pm. Going to last 4 years- it's been FS1 with 11 day games and Turner with 1 day game. You almost wonder if there's something in the TV contract with Turner requiring that.

Back to back grand slams for Fox and FS1 this year and last. Couldn't possibly go any better.

adoraz wrote:This year was better than last year no doubt in terms of exposure. More unique viewers. The most important thing (for us, not in terms of $$$) is that this year had the most watched telecast in FS1 history. FS1 is being kept fresh in viewers' minds just in time for the Big East season to start. The day vs night schedule is obviously the only reason the total 6 games ratings (not counting the Fox game) were down a few percentage points from last year's record breaking numbers. But those viewers just weren't able to watch it due to work, knew the game was on FS1, and ended up tuning in during game 7 anyways. Then you add on the additional # of people who watched this year's game 7 vs last year's game 6. Games 1-5 are repeat viewers and if they miss an afternoon game this year it doesn't matter. Point being, more unique people watched this year vs last.

Perfect example: my brother. He doesn't have cable but uses our family login to watch on apps. He downloaded the FSGO app just to watch game 7. He's one of those additional people who watched this year vs last year. So when SJU is beating Duke or Nova this year, he has a much better change of tuning in vs last year.

The difference between game 7 this year and game 6 last year was only 200k viewers(9.9 million to 9.7 million). Realistically with people in bars etc. it was probably darn close to equal. Not exactly a huge gap regardless.... I'll be really curious when we get to Friday to see the whole day ratings for the week. 1 thing that this year didn't have that last year did was the post game shows with Rose and ARod together. This year felt a lot more forced with both Big Papi and Keith Hernandez added. No where near the easy chemistry that last year had. So I think a lot more folks game over turned it off.

Your connection with the Big East would be more apt if they showed any commercials for the Big East. As far as I know, nada.

Following FS1’s first-ever LCS Game 7, postseason to date, FS1/FOX is averaging 5.1 million viewers, virtually flat with last year’s NLCS and the Cubs’ historic run.

Also, Speak for Yourself, The Herd and First Thing First had it's best weeks ever on FS1.
